Kelly runs up to her room, sobbing, and puts on her pajamas, then goes to her mom's room and thinks about how this was supposed to be the first night her dad would sleep in that bed as a part of the household. And now her mom would have to sleep in that same bed without him. It's just so unfair, she thinks. She just doesn't understand at all what happened! Nobody does!
Everyone stands up and watches Green stumble away, like you can't help but stare at a car wreck. Lola's best friend from work, Cherry, who she had invited last minute, feels terrible. Pine tells his mom that he will take care of cleaning up all of this wedding stuff, that she shouldn't have to worry about it. Autumn thinks about what this will do to her mom. And poor little Jade . . .
The wedding preparations are perfect. Flowers, a new walkway, an arch, a cake--Lola spent a lot of her precious money to make the wedding beautiful. Small, but elegant and beautiful. Everyone is seated, Little Jade holds her mommy's hand and walks her up the aisle. She places her hand in Green's and goes to sit down. Then the unthinkable happens. Green gets that look on his face again like he had at the birthday party, swallows hard, and stammers out, "I'm so sorry, I really have to go. I can't do this. I'm so sorry." And he leaves Lola standing alone at the altar. Everyone is in utter disbelief and Lola is convinced that this is all just a REALLY bad dream!
"Thanks, Wisteria, for calling to wish my mom and Green a happy wedding day! Sorry you guys couldn't make it. My mom talked Green out of having a huge party, and just having all of their kids together here. . . . Yeah, I know you understand . . . I'll show you all the pictures! Thanks again for calling!"
Green comes over for the party and snuggles Reed while Lola gives poor Kelly a big ol' lecture because she didn't clean the house good enough for the party. Lola is getting a little stressed out with planning the birthday party and her wedding party coming up soon, too! Green's not sure he likes seeing this side of Lola.
